Dear Jessica Brennan,
We’ve all heard the saying, “You’re preaching to the choir,” usually uttered when someone passionately explains something to an audience that already believes them. In my opinion, sometimes the choir does need a sermon.
Environmental activists need a rallying cry to keep fighting the good fight. Tech geeks need an occasional nudge to remind them of the wonder of innovation. Any group of like-minded individuals needs a question or two asked of them to help them evaluate why they’re so right. The preacher’s job is to challenge the choir’s rightness, not to harden it into an unchallengeable superiority.
Love,
Mum xo
