Dear Jessica Brennan,
According to fearof.net the top ten fears of all time are:
- Spiders – I’m not so afraid of spiders but judging by how you reacted to the one sitting on your lap in the car the other day, I think you may be.Â
- Snakes—I have a healthy respect for snakes, but Dad is fascinated by and fears our slithery friends.
- Heights – Yes. I’ve written often about this. I get the urge to jump when I’m up high.
- Open or crowded spaces – I only have this fear once a year in December in the mall.Â
- Dogs – Jinx has this fear
- Thunder and lightning – Huh, Jinx also has this fear.
- Small spaces – How small? No one wants to be in the trunk of a car or a suitcase.
- Germs – Don’t say COVID, we’ve had enough.
- Flying – I love flying, but I know others who don’t share my enthusiasm.
- Holes – What? Not public speaking, death or poverty? Nope, holes. I first thought this meant big holes you could fall in, but apparently, this includes sponges and coral, which surprised me.
I did think there would be other things ahead of holes. For example, I know you would burn the house down before coming toe-to-toe with a centipede, and I would do the same to avoid small talk at a meet-and-greet.
Love,
Mum xo
