Dear Jessica Brennan

Just about the only thing that can keep me on my exercise bike is a show called “Who Do You Think You Are” (UK).  The show looks back at the ancestry of actors, musicians and celebrities, and through their various stories, the viewer learns a lot about history, and the eras that are explored come to life because of the sense of family in their various trees.

I think there have been 14 seasons so far, and I hope the show is renewed forever and that the producers never stop making it. Don’t you know that when you make a great show for someone, your exercise bike makes a promise whether you do or not?

While watching the show, with aching legs, one can’t help but wonder about one’s own family history. Did I have an eight times great grandfather who was a Penny-farthing acrobat, or am I a direct descendant of the handle-bar mustached Nathan Field – actor and ladies-man born in 1587, or maybe I’m from the line of the politically out-spoke-n activist Frederick Vanderbilt Field?  Then I would be related to Anderson Cooper, which would be cool.  This whole discussion makes me two-tired.

Love Mum xo
