Dear Jessica Brennan,

The recent speed by which Roseanne Barr’s racist comments were dealt with gives me hope.  I realize now that collectively we are finally saying to the hateful and entitled:

We have had enough of your abuse of power.

We have had enough of exploited privilege.

We have had enough of racism.

We have had enough of trash television.

We have had enough of crimes against minorities.

We have had enough of big-mouths.

We have had enough of post-truth.

We have had enough of liars.

We have had enough of emotional violence.

We have had enough of verbal Ebola.

We have had enough of cheap jokes.

We have had enough of cat-calls.

We have had enough of adults who act like spoiled children.

We have had enough of bullies.

We have had enough of hearing we are too sensitive.

We have had enough of trying to pacify your ego.

We are over the self-gratifying rationalizations of your bad behaviour.

Don’t spin it. In fact don’t talk to us at all.

We see you.

Keep your temper tantrums and your louder voices.

Turn off the noise.

Keep your nudge-nudges and wink-winks for your mirror. We aren’t interested.

Smirk elsewhere.

We’re taking the world back.

Because here, where we all live, we’ve had enough.

Love Mum xo
